Learn to weave.
A beginner’s course in four shaft weaving.
The course will run for six weeks with a three hour lesson every week from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Students will learn how to wind a warp, dress the loom (putting the warp on the loom and threading it through heddles and reed), and weave a selection of basic patterns. All equipment and yarn will be provided and students will be able to take the looms home to work between classes.
During the six weeks students will weave a sampler of different patterns while practising even beating of the weft and keeping the selvedges neat and parallel. If time permits a second project may be undertaken, such as a scarf or table runner.
Extensive notes will be provided on the workings of the loom, calculation of amounts of yarn for a specific project, setts, finishing of a woven piece, reading a draft, suggested books and magazines and more.
Cost for each class will be $50, payable each week, or a total of $270 for six classes if prepaid.
