MORUYA & District
Home of Sydney Harbour Bridge granite
A feature of the Moruya landscape is the Moruya River which starts in the Deua National Park west of the town and flows beside the Araluen Road. It meets the ocean beside the Moruya Airport and provides one of the most exciting surfing spots on the south coast. Historically the area was a major vegetable growing area with most of the produce transported to Sydney by sea.
From its original inhabitants, the Bugelli-Manji tribe, to bushrangers, the Gold Rush and beyond, Moruya has a rich history filled with the colour and romance typical of Australia's early days.
