I want to invite you along to a gig this Friday night, the 3rd May, starting at 7pm. I will be joined by Russell Fletcher, who many of you know. Russell has recently joined me in my performing, both in playing my own songs, and in playing some of his own tunes. He is a magic guitarist and sings beautiful harmonies.
My music has been instrumental to my recovery post stroke. I was very fortunate to have a speech pathologist, Laura Harvey with the TRACS team in Moruya, who encouraged me to sing my own songs for rehabilitation. It was an easier way to re-learn to speak, and something I loved doing. I found purpose again. My journey has been difficult, not only in terms of recovery, but in terms of some situations that were challenging. Fortunately, the support of the community has helped me to gain understanding and grow from the many obstacles during this last year.
My philosophy in life is that with the bad comes the good. So, my life has changed, but I now have time to focus on music. I will be singing my own songs, some of them new, and some old.
I look forward to seeing you on Friday night.
Peace, love and harmonica
